Long Island Woman, 42, Arrested For Bank Of America Robbery

A 42-year-old woman has been charged for allegedly robbing a bank on Long Island.

The robbery occurred Wednesday, Sept. 11 at about 2:30 p.m. in Holbrook, Suffolk County Police said.

Michele Atkinson, 42, of Bohemia entered Bank of America, located at 4400 Veterans Memorial Highway, approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash, according to police. The teller complied and Atkinson fled in a black car at approximately 2:35 p.m.

Fifth Precinct officers responded and Officer Arkadiusz Janczurewicz located and arrested Atkinson in a parking lot behind 5181 Sunrise Highway in Bohemia a short time later.

Major Case Unit detectives charged Atkinson with third-degree robbery. 

She will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, Sept. 12.
